India National Cricket Team batting maestro Virat Kohli was seen expressing frustration in the dressing room despite playing an innings of the highest quality in the 5th match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 against Australia National Cricket Team at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai on Sunday, October 8.

Chasing a target of 200 against Australia, India were off to a horrible start as Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, and Shreyas Iyer got out for 0 and India were reduced to 2/3.

Had India lost one more wicket they would have been on the verge of defeat but Virat Kohli didn’t let that happen as he alongside KL Rahul played sensational innings to put back the pressure on Australia.

Virat Kohli got a reprieve early on in his innings when he was at 12 and after that, he looked class apart. He was involved in a 165-run stand with KL Rahul but was unable to finish off the game for India.

He was caught by Marnus Labuschagne in the 38th over as he attempted a pull and hit it straight towards the fielder. Kohli scored a brilliant 85 runs off 116 balls, with 6 fours, and helped India get to a winning position.

Still, the batting maestro looked upset as he walked back to the dugout without taking his team past the finish line and not completing the ton. In a clip that has been going viral on social media, Kohli is seen expressing his anger and frustration in the dressing room, indicating that he wasn’t satisfied with his performance.

Credit to Virat Kohli and KL Rahul on how they went about the chase – Rohit Sharma

Speaking after the match, Rohit Sharma admitted that he got nervous after India were off to a horrible start in the match and credited KL Rahul and Virat Kohli for the win. He elaborated:

“I was (nervous), you don’t want to start your innings like that, credit to the Aussies bowlers as they bowled in good areas but some loose shots as well, when you have that kind of target you want to score as much as possible in the powerplay, but credit to Virat and KL on how they went about the chase. That is going to be the challenge for us as a team, moving to different conditions and adapting, whoever suits the conditions will have to come and do the job.

“Chennai never disappoints, they love their cricket, and for them to sit in that heat and come out and cheer for the team says a lot,” Rohit Sharma said.
