IND vs BAN: Gautam Gambhir urged to avoid suggestions and assert monopoly by ex-India cricketer

Gautam Gambhir is still new at the role of India's head coach. His first assignment in Sri Lanka was a mixed bag where India won the T20I series against the home team convincingly but shockingly lost the ODI series.
But the real test starts now as India gears up for a mega Test season which will see them play 10 Tests in four months against three different oppositions. Gambhir will want to begin this Test season on a positive note against Bangladesh.
Former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja backed Gautam Gambhir for this role and also hoped that he does not change his aggressive nature. Jadeja also advised Gambhir not to listen to bits of advice or suggestions and do what he is known to do.

There will never be a dull moment with Gautam Gambhir - Ajay Jadeja
While speaking to the reporters in Kolkata, Ajay Jadeja reckoned that there won't be any dull moment with Gambhir at the helm as he will always look to do something. Jadeja added that Gambhir will make some unexpected decisions just like the appointment of Suryakumar Yadav as India's T20I captain ahead of Hardik Pandya.
“It is very clear, his (Gautam Gambhir) approach is aggressive. One thing is sure, there will never be a dull moment with him around, he will always try something. He will do what he believes,” Jadeja claimed.
“He (Gambhir) will not be somebody who will sit back and let things flow. He will be out there, he will try things like we saw Suryakumar Yadav becoming captain suddenly. I am looking forward to the excitement we are going to see this year,” he added.
Ajay Jadeja does not want Gautam Gambhir to take suggestions as head coach
Some of Gautam Gambhir's decisions in his first assignment in Sri Lanka were scrutinized, especially after India's loss in the ODI series. As a result, experts and former players offered him some suggestions as well.
But Ajay Jadeja hopes that Gambhir does not take any suggestions and keeps working the way he is right now. He does not want Gambhir to change his aggressive approach and stick to his strengths.
“I hope he does not take suggestions. The reason why he is there is because of what he did and how he looks at it. I hope he does not take anybody’s advice and change his approach because what has made you who you are is something that you should believe in and stick to. He can always get better,” Jadeja said.
India's coaching staff under Gautam Gambhir
India will play 2 Tests against Bangladesh and 3 Tests against New Zealand at home. Afterwards, they will travel to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 where they will play a five-match Test series against the home team.
While Gautam Gambhir was appointed as India's head coach, Abhishek Nayar, and Ryan ten Doeschate joined the coaching staff as assistant coaches. T Dilip remains India's fielding coach and the only unchanged member from Rahul Dravid's tenure. Meanwhile, Morne Morkel is the latest entrant in this set-up as the bowling coach.
