Former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra has recently revealed a fascinating story about Gautam Gambhir's fiery temperament from their early days of playing cricket together in Delhi during a podcast with YouTuber Raj Shamani.

Chopra, who shared many memorable moments with Gambhir during their playing time in Delhi, recalled an incident that truly highlights Gambhir’s fearless nature.

The well-known commentator revealed a time when Gambhir got into a heated argument with a truck driver right in the middle of the road.

According to the cricket expert, this episode is a perfect reflection of Gambhir’s no-nonsense attitude and his unwavering commitment to standing his ground, both on and off the field.

Gambhir’s fierce persona, which was evident throughout his cricketing career, continues to shape his coaching philosophy, making him one of the most passionate figures in the cricket world today.

He is very passionate and very hardworking guy: Chopra on Gambhir

Aakash Chopra said on Raj Shamani’s podcast on YouTube: “Gautam is someone who once fought with a truck driver in Delhi. He got out of his car and climbed the truck to grab the collar of the driver because he made a wrong turn and was abusing him. I was like, ‘Gauti, what are you doing?’ So that's made him Gautam.”

Chopra mentioned that Gambhir was an incredibly hardworking cricketer, but at the same time, he also described the former World Cup winner as "short-fused" when it came to his temperament. Gambhir was one of the top-ranked batters during his time, and now he has been tasting success in coaching.

He signed off by saying, “Passionate guy. Very hardworking when it comes to his craft. A bit serious but scored a lot of runs. He always wore his heart on the sleeve. Temperament-wise, he can be very short-fused. But everyone has a different character.”

Notably, Gambhir's on-field altercations are no secret to fans, with his infamous confrontations with Virat Kohli causing a lot of stirs among the cricketing fraternity, especially during his time as a player for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and later as the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

Both are currently gearing up for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh at home. The home series will begin with the first Test in Chennai in September, followed by the second and final Test in Lucknow, starting on September 27.

India and Bangladesh will also play a three-match T20I series in October after completing the ICC World Championship (WCT) matches at home. This is Gambhir’s first Test assignment as India’s head coach.
