IND vs BAN: Jonty Rhodes comments on Rohit Sharma's behaviour after not being selected as India fielding coach

Legendary South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes has hailed India captain Rohit Sharma during a recent podcast. Rhodes called Rohit "a very approachable guy" who always stayed true to himself.

Rohit has been serving Team India since 2007. He came in as a batter who had tremendous talent and scored heaps of runs in junior cricket. He will be in action in India's upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh.

Over the years, Rohit has established himself as one of the biggest match winners of Team India. His batting technique is simple and he likes to play aggressively. He has changed his approach in the last few years and has put pressure on the bowlers early on.

Jonty Rhodes hails Rohit Sharma; calls him a "very cheeky guy"

During a podcast on the YouTube channel 'Aleena Dissects', Jonty Rhodes was all praises for Rohit and hailed his journey. Rhodes claimed that Rohit is relaxed while batting which enables him to play his shots easily.

The former South Africa cricketer also spoke about Rohit Sharma's famous comments on the microphone that went viral on social media and called him "cheeky."

"Rohit Sharma is a very approachable guy, he is so relaxed in the crease - stayed true to himself, it has been good to see his journey, you hear his funny comments on microphone, very cheeky guy," Rhodes said.

Jonty Rhodes is regarded as probably the best fielder of all time. His fielding skills were second to none and he possessed the ability to win games for his team through his excellent fielding. Currently, he is serving as the fielding coach of Lucknow Super Giants.

Rohit is one of the best players of pull shots of all time. He has a strong base and maintains a good body shape which allows him to play the pull shot and all the other difficult shots very comfortably.

His ability to hit sixes makes him such a dangerous player. The 37-year-old is on top of the list of the players with the most sixes in international cricket.

He has smashed 620 sixes in 483 international matches so far. In ODI cricket, he is just 20 sixes behind Shahid Afridi to become the highest six-hitter.

The Indian captain was outstanding in the T20 World Cup 2024 in June where he scored 257 runs in 8 matches at an average of 36.71 and a strike rate of 156.70. Rohit emerged as the second-highest runs-scorer of the tournament and played a key role in India's title win.

Rohit announced his retirement after India's T20 World Cup win. But he is still India's captain in Tests and ODIs. He will be in action in India's two-match Test series against Bangladesh beginning on September 19 in Chennai.
