India National Cricket Team premier pacer Mohammed Shami has issued a massive warning to the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led Bangladesh National Cricket Team ahead of the two-match Test series.

Bangladesh cricketers are high on confidence after demolishing Pakistan in their own backyard in a recent two-match Test series. They delivered an excellent performance in the series against Shan Masood-led side and stunned the hosts.

Najmul Hossain Shanto's team won the first match by 10 wickets, which was their first-ever Test win against Pakistan, and then clinched the second Test by 6 wickets to seal their first-ever Test series win over the hosts.

A historic performance from the Bangla Tigers in Pakistan led to the cricket team being rewarded BDT 3.20 crore by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

The next big challenge of Bangladesh is the Test tour to India, where they will be playing two matches, with the first one being played from September 19 in Chennai and the second Test being played from September 27 in Kanpur.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami fired a huge warning to the visitors ahead of the series, saying that defeating Pakistan is one thing but 'India are a different ball game.'

“India are a different ball game. Bangladesh beating Pakistan is one thing,” Shami told reporters on the sidelines of the Cricket Association of Bengal’s (CAB) Annual Awards Ceremony on Saturday, as quoted by Revsportz.

“Beating India requires a different skill set. Bangladesh will have to think about India’s record (at home). How well the (Indian) team has been playing. About India’s current performance. A Test match is played over five days and you have to win all the sessions to win the game.”

Notably, Mohammed Shami will not be able to offer his services in the Test series against Bangladesh as he is currently undergoing rehabilitation following his Achilles tendon surgery.

NCA naam sun ke hi man kharab ho jata hai - Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami also spoke about his comeback at the event. He said that he hates visiting the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and added that he would make his comeback to cricket through the upcoming Ranji Trophy, representing Bengal in a couple of matches.

“Jitna jaldi aap NCA se nikal sakte ho utna achha hai. NCA naam sun ke hi man kharab ho jata hai. Matlab aap abhi fit nahi huye ho [The sooner you can leave the NCA, the better. Just hearing the name NCA worsens your mood. It means you’re still not fit],” he said.

“You want to get fit as soon as possible. You want to come back and do what you love doing, and I hope I will be back soon and play a couple of Ranji Trophy matches for Bengal.”

As per the latest reports, Mohammed Shami has started to bowl in the nets but will miss the three-match Test series against New Zealand, which will be played after the Bangladesh series. He is likely to make his comeback to the national team during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia.
