Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar took a jibe at Ravindra Jadeja during the ongoing warmup game between India and Bangladesh ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. The match between the two teams is taking place at the Nassau County Cricket Stadium in New York.
This came after Ravindra Jadeja survived a close stumping call in the game. It was during the 17th over of the first innings when the all-rounder joined Hardik Pandya in the middle. However, it wasn’t a great first ball for Jadeja as he was on the verge of getting a golden duck.
Bangladesh bowler Tanvir Islam bowled a fuller delivery to which Ravindra Jadeja tried to slog. The all-rounder missed the ball and was caught standing right on the crease before the ball was bowled and remained there after the shot.
The Bangladesh wicketkeeper collected the ball and removed the stumps. Ravindra Jadeja looked short of the crease but there wasn’t conclusive evidence to term him out as the cameras didn’t have the right angle and the umpires termed him not out. But to the naked eye, it looked out.
Sanjay Manjrekar, who was commenting, came up with a cheeky remark. He stated that it looked out but he will have to stay shut because Ravindra Jadeja was at the helm of question at the Nassau County Cricket Stadium in New York.
"It looks out from here, but it's Jadeja batting, so I better shut up,” said Sanjay Manjrekar on air.

Ravindra Jadeja - Sanjay Manjrekar Saga
For the unversed, Sanjay Manjrekar and Ravindra Jadeja don’t gell well together as they were involved in a spat with each other in 2019. The commentator made a massive comment on the all-rounder, saying that he doesn’t like bits-and-pieces players like Jadeja. He had said:
"I am not a big fan of bits and pieces players which Jadeja is at this point of his career in 50-over cricket. In Test matches, he is a pure bowler. But in 50-over cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner.”
Ravindra Jadeja however, didn’t go easy on Sanjay Manjrekar as he took to his Twitter account and stated that he has played twice the number of matches that the commentator has played. He had said:
"Still I have played twice the number of matches you have played and I'm still playing. Learn to respect ppl who have achieved. I have heard enough of your verbal diarrhoea.”
Coming to the match, Ravindra Jadeja faced just 6 balls in the match and scored 4 runs. With the ball, he bowled 2 overs and gave away 11 runs. He will be extremely important for Team India going into the T20 World Cup 2024. India will open their campaign against Ireland on 5th June in New York.
