IND vs BAN: Shakib Al Hasan Hails Virat Kohli As 'Probably The Best Batter In The Modern Era'

Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan lauded ace India batter Virat Kohli ahead of the India-Bangladesh match in the ICC World Cup 2023. Shakib Al Hasan described Virat Kohli as probably the best batter in the modern era, acknowledging his exceptional skills.

The Rohit Sharma-led team will face Bangladesh in their fourth match at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Thursday, October 19. The hosts have won all three of their previous games, while Bangladesh managed to secure one win out of three.

Virat Kohli Is A Special Batter – Shakib Al Hasan

In a recent conversation with Star Sports before the India-Bangladesh match, Shakib Al Hasan mentioned that he has dismissed Kohli five times in international cricket and expressed his desire to do it once more.

“He (Kohli) is a special batsman. Probably the best batsmen in the modern era,” Shakib told Star Sports.

“I think I am lucky to get him out five times. If I get his wicket, of course, it will give me great pleasure,” he added.

Virat is regarded as one of the best batters in the modern era, having achieved multiple milestones. He has scored more than 13,000 runs in the ODI format, including 47 centuries and 68 fifties. He has scored 156 runs in three games in the ICC World Cup 2023.

Bahut Experienced Bowler Hai – Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli praised Shakib for his experience and skill as a bowler, describing him as a valuable asset. He also emphasized that there are no weak teams in a tournament like the World Cup.

“Shakib has a lot of experience. Over the years, main unke against bahut khela hoon. Unka bhi control kamaal ka hai. Bahut experienced bowler hai. Nayi ball se bahut kamaal ki bowling karte hai. Batsmen ko deceive karna unko aata hai aur bahut economical bowling karte hai,” Kohli said.

“World Cup jaise tournaments mein, there are no weak teams. World Cup mein jab bhi dekhte hai toh badi teams ko aap focus mein rakhte hai lekin hamesha koi na koi upset hota hai,” he added.

Afghanistan and the Netherlands made upsets by defeating top-ranked teams in their recent matches during the tournament. Afghanistan secured a victory against England, while the Netherlands beat South Africa.
