Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly shared his thoughts on the Rohit Sharma-led team securing the trophy in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the USA. Sourav Ganguly highlighted the players' performances in the IPL 2024, which will benefit Team India in the ICC tournament.

The Indian cricket team clinched the T20 World Cup trophy in the inaugural edition in 2007 in South Africa. The Men in Blue defeated Pakistan in the summit clash to secure the title. The team reached the final match in the 2014 edition but suffered a six-wicket loss against the Sri Lanka cricket team in Dhaka.

The Team Has A Number Of Quality Players - Sourav Ganguly

In a conversation with Revsportz, Sourav Ganguly expressed confidence in the Indian team's ability to win the T20 World Cup. Ganguly highlighted that India will start as favorites in the upcoming tournament, considering the team's quality and the favorable conditions in New York.

"Absolutely, I do. The team has a number of quality players and are going into the tournament on the back of some serious T20 cricket in the form of the IPL. That should help them in New York. What will also go in their favor are the bigger grounds, and it will help our spinners, for example. In a World Cup, you can never rule out India just because of the simple reason there is a lot of quality in the team," Ganguly told Revsportz.

Rohit Sharma led the Indian team in the last edition of the T20 World Cup in Australia. The Men in Blue reached the semifinals but failed to advance to the final match. The Indian team suffered a 10-wicket loss to eventual champions England in the semifinal match in Adelaide.
