Bangladesh have suffered a huge injury scare ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Their left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam could miss at least the first few games for his team after suffering a palm injury on Saturday (June 1) during the ongoing warm-up game against India at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York.
The incident took place in the very last over of the India innings when Shoriful Islam was bowling to Hardik Pandya. On the fifth ball of the over, the Bangladesh pacer bowled a fine yorker but Pandya managed to dig it out and did it with good force. The India allrounder hit the ball back towards the bowler and Shoriful Islam ended up getting hit on his palm.
He looked in pain straightaway as he sat down on the field before Ravindra Jadeja checked on him. The physio came running out as well before the bowler decided to leave the field. Tanzim Hasan then bowled the remaining last ball of the over.

Before leaving the field, Shoriful had a fine outing with the ball. He dismissed Sanju Samson in his very first over to give Bangladesh their first breakthrough. He finished the innings with figures of 1 for 26 from 3.5 overs. Talking about the game, India finished their innings on 182 for 5.
After Sanju Samson (1) and Rohit (23) failed to impress with the bat, Rishabh Pant led the charge and scored 53 runs off 32 balls with the help of 4 fours and as many sixes. Suryakumar Yadav also played a crucial 31-run knock before Hardik Pandya's unbeaten 40-run knock took India to a 180-plus total.
In reply, Bangladesh were reeling at 8 for 2 in the third over at the time of writing this report. Arshdeep Singh has picked up both the wickets.
