Indian batter KL Rahul talked about how the trolls from fans started troubling him last year. He admitted that he tried a lot to keep the outside noise out but his efforts didn’t work. He revealed the development ahead of the team’s ICC World Cup 2023 clash against England.

KL Rahul was subjected to a lot of criticism for his performances. He failed for India in all three formats of the game and became the soft target for fans. Even many cricket experts and former cricketers lashed out at him and there were even calls to remove him from the team.

However, since returning from the injury, KL Rahul has been in the red hot form. The keeper-batter has changed the dynamics of the Indian middle order and his presence has given a sense of security to the fans with the way he has batted.

In the Asia Cup, he was magnificent with bat and has carried the form in the ICC World Cup 2023. He has batted brilliantly in the middle order and even won his team game against Australia in Chennai. He has thrived under pressure and will be very crucial for his team going ahead.

KL Rahul said that after outside noise affected him, he worked on it a lot and now he’s mentally stronger. Speaking to reporters, he explained:

“I tried to address outside noise for a long time, I thought it won’t affect me, but in the last year or so it started affecting me. And then I realised that I will have to work on it. And when I got time, outside of the game, I tried to work on that side – mentally you got to get a lot stronger, more thick-skinned. So yeah, so that really helped me being away from the game.”

IND vs ENG: The environment has been such that everyone is enjoying cricket – KL Rahul

KL Rahul also talked about the Indian team’s environment in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023. He revealed that ever since he returned from injury, the atmosphere in the dressing room has been ecstatic as everyone is enjoying the cricket. He added:

I think that is just one thing [fielding medal videos] that you are seeing or the fans outside are seeing, they are getting to see a version of cricketers that maybe they have not seen before but one thing is that since I have returned to the team from Asia Cup, the environment has been such that everyone is enjoying cricket.

“Everyone is in a very happy state of mind. We know that whenever we cross the boundary line, there will be pressure. But the best thing we can do is outside of the field. [we can] still try and enjoy ourselves and try to be as calm as possible.”

KL Rahul will be next seen in action when India take on England in their next match on Sunday (29th October).
