IND vs ENG: Remove Shreyas Iyer And Bring Sanju Samson! Twitter Slams Batter As He Perishes On Short Ball

Fans on X reacted after Shreyas Iyer perished to short ball yet again in the ICC World Cup 2023 clash against the defending champions. The 29th game of the tournament is taking place at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow between India and England. 

India were asked to bat first and they are currently in the spot of the bother. They lost Shubman Gill (9) and Virat Kohli early. It was expected that Shreyas Iyer would hold the fort with skipper Rohit Sharma and take the team to the big total. But this wasn’t the case as he too was back in the hut early.

Shreyas Iyer yet again perished on the short ball as he got hurried by it and ended up getting caught. Chris Woakes bowled a short-of-a-length ball, which the Indian batter tried to smash. He was rushed for pace and ended up getting a top edge.

The ball lobbed towards mid-on and was caught by Mark Wood, who took an easy catch.  Shreyas Iyer scored just 4 runs off 16 balls and with his wicket, India were left tottering at 40/3. This, however, was not the first time he got out on short ball. He has been troubled a lot by the delivery in the tournament. Not only in the tournament but earlier as well he has had his problems with the short of length delivery.

The onus will now be on skipper Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul to take the team to the big total. India are currently second on the points table. They have won 5 out of their 5 games and would be looking to extend their winning run.
