IND vs ENG Scorecard, 1st Test, Day 3 Highlights: Ollie Pope slams vital ton for England vs India
England in their second innings were off to the stupendous start. The wrecker-in-chief behind that was Zack Crawley as he came out with aggressive intent and slammed bowlers all over the park. He ended with an inning of 31 runs off 33 balls before getting out to Ravichandran Ashwin.
He had a great opening partnership with Ben Duckett. After Crawley got out, Duckett (47) along with Ollie Pope batted sensationally well and added 68 runs partnership for the second wicket in just 57 balls. Before the southpaw was rattled by Jasprit Bumrah.
India after that made a staggering comeback and picked early wickets. From 113/2 to 163/5, they removed the wickets in a flash. However, after that, Ollie Pope and Ben Foakes led the rescue charge for the team and bailed the visitors out of trouble with their sensational partnership.
The duo put India bowlers under immense pressure and added 112 runs partnership. Their stand made sure that England took the lead and made India bat again. Their partnership was broken by Axar Patel as he rattled the stumps of keeper-batter for 34 runs off 81 balls.
Ollie Pope on the other hand played a blinder and brought up his 5th Test century. He played incredibly well against the spin and didn’t put a foot wrong in his innings. He ended with the innings of unbeaten 148 runs off 208 balls with the help of 17 boundaries in the innings.
