IND vs ENG: Watch - Shubman Gill Gets Castled By Chris Woakes

India batter Shubman Gill couldn’t get going in the match against England in the ICC World Cup 2023. The 29th game of the tournament is taking place at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, where the defending champions won the toss and opted to field first. 

India were off to a decent start as skipper Rohit Sharma yet again was at his aggressive best. Shubman Gill also played a gorgeous drive early on and it seemed that he would get a big score. But this wasn’t the case as he was back in the hut early. 

Shubman Gill couldn’t get going after hitting a boundary and it’s fair to say that he looked scratchy after that. Chris Woakes got his line and length correct and castled the Indian batter. It happened during the last ball of the 4th over as the opener had no clue about it. 

Chris Woakes bowled a pitched-up on a fullish length around off that nipped back. Shubman Gill played the line of the and attempted the drive down the ground but left a bat-pad gap in the process. The ball went right through that gap and crashed into the stumps.

Shubman Gill scored 9 runs of 13 balls. His wicket left India tottering at 26 runs. After his scalp, England bowled pretty well and put India under pressure. The onus will be on skipper Rohit Sharma to take his team to a good total now.

After the wicket of Shubman Gill, England have been all over India in the game. David Willey also got into the act and removed Virat Kohli. The batter couldn’t get going and played a shot in frustration that saw him back in the hut for the 9-ball duck. 

Shreyas Iyer, who came at No.4, also perished early. He yet again fell prey to a short ball and was back in the hut for just 4 runs. With his wicket, India were left tottering at 40/3.
