IND vs IRE: "All Good, No Complaints" - Jasprit Bumrah After Winning Player Of The Series Award As Captain

Indian captain and pacer Jasprit Bumrah talked about the series win as well as his own performance against Ireland in the T20I series. He said that it was an honor for him to captain his side and his job got easier as players were confident. 

The third game of the T20I series between India and Ireland was called off due to rain and it meant that the Jasprit Bumrah-led side won the series by the margin of 2-1. They displayed magnificent performances in the first two games, winning by the margin of 2 runs (DLS) and 33 runs respectively. 

The chief architect behind India’s win was none other than captain Jasprit Bumrah. It was a comeback series for him after a long break and he made sure that he gave the entire nation a moment to cherish. As a leader, he ticked all the boxes and made sure that he won his first series as a leader. 

Jasprit Bumrah bowled magnificently in the two games and ended up with four wickets in two games. The pacer made an impact in the very first over he bowled as he picked two wickets and also displayed a staggering death bowling in the first match. 

The second match saw Jasprit Bumrah racking up his pace and exhibiting a plethora of variations. He bowled good lines and lengths and executed all his plans to his perfection. He picked up two wickets in the second game and also bowled a maiden wicket in the last over of the series. 

Jasprit Bumrah, who was awarded Player of the Series, said that he’s delighted to be back and play cricket for India. He said that he was honored to captain the team and has no complaints from himself. Speaking during the post-match presentation, he explained: 

“Very happy to be back and play some cricket. Frustrating when you’re waiting for a game to happen. Did not see this coming, the weather was fine in the morning. An honour to lead the side, everyone was very eager and enthusiastic. Whenever you get an opportunity to lead your side, anyone would love to do that. 

“As a cricketer, you always want responsibility. All good, no complaints. Not one year (out of the team), 10-11 months (he jokingly corrects Alan Wilkins). Makes my job easier when players are so confident, and they tell me what to do.”

With his Player of the Series award in the T20I series against Ireland, Jasprit Bumrah joined the elite list of players with the most T20I Man of the Series won by Indian captains. He joined the list along with Virat Kohli, who has won award 3 times, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya
