Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah talked about the win his side bagged in the first T20I against Ireland at The Village in Dublin. He said that he personally felt very good and it didn’t look like he was doing something new.

India were lucky enough as they bagged a 2-run victory in the first game by DLS and took a 1-0 lead in the series. Opting to field first, the visitors restricted the opposition to a total of 139 runs and then were 47/2 before rain forced umpires to call off the game.

Skipper Jasprit Bumrah was the main architect behind the team’s win as he made a dream comeback after a prolonged injury and made sure that he does something special. The premier Indian pacer didn’t have a great start as he miscued the first ball he bowled and conceded four runs.

But he didn’t take long to make a comeback as on the very next ball he picked and then also went on to pick another wicket in the same over to take his team off the flyer and bag two scalps in the first 6 balls he bowled.

If this was not enough, Jasprit Bumrah then bowled exceptionally well in the death and proved why is he still the boss. He gave away just 1 run in the 19th over, which gave a glimpse of vintage Bumrah. He returned with the figures of 2/24 in his quota of 4 overs.

Talking after the game, Jasprit Bumrah said that as a leader his focus was not on himself but on others. He revealed that he wasn’t nervous and was very happy with the way he bowled. He explained:

“Felt very good, so many sessions I did at the NCA, didn’t feel I missed out a lot or was doing something new. Credit to the staff, they kept me in good spirits. You are not thinking about yourself, you are thinking about others out there. Not really nervous but very happy. There was some swing upfront so we wanted to use it. Luckily we won the toss and it was coming out fine.”

IND vs IRE: Everybody is very confident – Jasprit Bumrah on young Indian players

Jasprit Bumrah further talked about the game and credited Ireland’s batters for their comeback. He touted young players as confident and said that massive credit for that goes to IPL. He added:

“There was some help due to the weather, so very happy. In every game, you would want more. They played well, after a crisis, they played well. Credit where it is due. Even when you win, there are areas to improve on. Everybody is very confident, they are very well prepared. I think the IPL also helps. It is always good, wherever we go, they support us, that helps us to keep the spirit high.”

Jasprit Bumrah will be next seen in action when India will take on Ireland in the second match on Sunday (20th August).
