Former Australian pacer, Glenn McGrath spoke on Jasprit Bumrah’s return to the India squad and said that he can return fresh to international cricket after the injury break. Jasprit Bumrah has been out of the Men in Blues squad since last year, after receiving an injury.

Glenn McGrath is currently in Chennai and while talking to the media, the former Aussie pacer applauded Jasprit Bumrah and said that he is a quality pacer and can come back stronger from the injury.

“It depends on how the injury is and the sort of expectations he has. I think he will be fine since he is a quality bowler,” McGrath said.

Can Jasprit Bumrah come back stronger to international cricket?

As per the Aussie legend, Glenn McGrath feels that since Jasprit Bumrah he can come back stronger and that the injury break will help the Indian pacer to get back in shape.

McGrath further added that every fast bowler needs such layoff to help them with gaining strength in their body.

“The layoff will help him, I think. Fast bowlers need that layoff and time to get the strength back in their bodies. It depends on the work he has done off the field, how his back is, and if he has done anything to his action. I think he has been there before and he has achieved it,” the 53-year-old said on Jasprit Bumrah.

McGrath feels that Bumrah won’t lose his form and will come back exactly where he was last year.

The effort and energy he puts in takes a toll on the body. If he has put enough work on the field, I can’t see a reason why he cannot go back to being where he previously was,” McGrath further added.

The 53-year-old further added that Bumrah has got plenty of experience and has enough time before the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 to test himself.

“He’s got enough experience. He has enough games before the World Cup to test himself. Eleven months is a long time out of the game, but if you are coming off an off-season and you want to get into it, hopefully, that only takes a few games,” McGrath added.

Jasprit Bumrah is set lead the Men in Blues in India’s upcoming tour of Ireland which will start from Friday (August 18).
