IND vs IRE: Rohit Sharma sets unprecedented record, hits 600 sixes in international cricket to establish legacy as greatest six-hitter

India captain Rohit Sharma achieved a historic feat in international cricket. The opening batter became the first-ever batter in the history of the game and from the India National Cricket Team to hit 600 sixes across the three formats.

Rohit Sharma achieved the milestone on the big stage as he hit his 600th six in the T20 World Cup 2024. The batter created history in the game against Ireland, which took place at the Nassau County Cricket International Stadium in New York on Wednesday (5th June).

Rohit Sharma kick-started the T20 World Cup 2024 on high as he played a magnificent innings for his team on a tough pitch. Chasing the target of 97 runs, India was under a bit of pressure as they lost Virat Kohli (1) early and the ball was doing a lot off the pitch.

Rohit Sharma started scratchily but once he was in, he made his bat talk. Despite having no clue of what the ball would do, he oozed his class with the bat and made sure that he took his team close to the target and started off the tournament on high with a thumping win.

Rohit Sharma slammed a blistering half-century as he scored 52 runs off 37 runs. He batted with a strike rate of around 140 and also slammed 3 sixes and 4 fours in his innings. The batter looked good to eyes but got retired hurt after copping a blow.

Rohit Sharma with 3 sixes in his innings also became the first batter in international cricket to achieve the remarkable feat. He is leading the way with 600 sixes whereas Chris Gayle is behind him with 553 sixes to his name. The India captain achieved the feat in his 499th innings.

Not only did Rohit Sharma slam 600 sixes in the international, but he also broke quite a few records after his innings against Ireland. The opening batter also completed 4000 runs in the T20Is and became only the second batter after Virat Kohli to score 4000* runs across all three formats

Rohit Sharma also became the fastest batter to complete 4000 runs in T20Is in terms of balls faced. He achieved the feat in his 144th innings in the shortest format of the game.
