IND vs IRE: 'Someone Is Your Favourite Player But..': Venkatesh Prasad Accuses 'Clueless' Hardik Pandya Of Favouritism

Former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad has slammed Team India and taken an indirect dig at skipper Hardik Pandya after the loss against West Indies in the fifth and final T20I on Sunday (August 13). West Indies sealed the series 3-2 by thrashing Team India by eight wickets.

The latest loss has further highlighted the fact that Team India are far from being a solid unit in limited-overs cricket. The Men in Blue struggled throughout the ODI and the T20I series. While they managed to win the ODI series, West Indies did not let them clinch the T20Is.

India’s batting struggled in most of the games and the story was not different in the series decider either. Barring Suryakumar Yadav, who scored 61, no other Indian batsmen managed to do well with the bat. Tilak Varma did get the start but a brilliant catch from Roston Chase ended his innings for 27. In the end, India scored 165 for 9 on a good batting pitch after winning the toss.

In reply, West Indies made the most of the conditions and chased down the target in 18 overs by losing just two wickets. Opener Kyle Mayers departed cheaply but the hosts remained in control throughout the chase. Opener Brandon King starred with the bat for the Caribbean outfit, scoring an unbeaten 85 and finding good support from Nicholas Pooran (47) and Shai Hope (22*).

Venkatesh Prasad slams Team India:

As India suffered the loss in the fifth T20I, Venkatesh Prasad took to X to slam their performance. Questioning the team’s hunger and intensity, he also took a dig at captain Hardik Pandya by saying that he looked clueless. Not only that, Venkatesh Prasad also accused the Indian team of favoritism. In another tweet, he also highlighted India’s recent struggles in white-ball cricket and said that the team needs to introspect.

“India needs to improve their skillset. Their is a hunger & intensity deficiency & often the captain looked clueless. Bowler’s can’t bat, batsmen can’t bowl. It’s important to not look for yes men and be blinded because someone is your favourite player but look at the larger good”
