India keeper-batter Rishabh Pant had a decent outing with the bat in the game against Ireland in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The match between the two teams took place at the Nassau County Cricket International Stadium in New York.

India kick-started their campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on high as they thumped Ireland by 8 wickets to make important twin points. The bowlers set up the game pretty well for them as they bundled out the opposition for just 96 runs.

With the bat, it was a tricky start for India as they lost Virat Kohli (1) early. But after that with the way, Rohit Sharma (52) and Rishabh Pant batted, it was for everyone to cherish as the duo took the game away from the opposition.

Rishabh Pant, who scored a half-century in the warmup game, in particular, looked sensational to the eyes and it’s fair to say that his batting at No.3 and coming up good will be a massive boost for the team. The keeper-batter continued his good form and played another decent innings.

Rishabh Pant took quite a few blows on his body but he made sure that he stayed there till the end and helped his team win the game. What caught the attention of many was the way he finished the game for his team and took the team to victory.

Rishabh Pant recreated his famous reverse scoop shot for six, which he smashed against James Anderson during the Test series in India a few years back. He made sure that he finished off things in style as India registered an 8-wicket win in New York.

Ireland pacer Barry McCarthy bowled a length ball outside off to which Rishabh Pant went reverse and scooped it straight behind the keeper for six. He looked relieved after hitting the six as before he faced a lot of blows due to the nature of the pitch.

Here’s the video:

Rishabh Pant played an unbeaten innings of 36 runs off 26 balls. He batted with a strike rate of around 140 and also hit 3 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. His valiant knock helped India chase the target inside 13 overs at the Nassau County Cricket International Stadium in New York.

Wasim Jaffer, and Irfan Pathan heap rich praise on Rishabh Pant for his innings

After India’s win, Irfan Pathan came up with massive praise for Rishabh Pant. He said that the keeper-batter scoring runs at the top order was a big plus. Taking to his Twitter account, he stated:

“Solid start this by team India. Rishabh Pant being a left handed batsman scoring runs at the top order was big plus for me.”

On the other hand, Wasim Jaffer was in awe of Rishabh Pant’s reverse lap shot in the end. He stated that his shot should be played on Times Square and would draw Americans into cricket. He added.

“Take a clip of that reverse lap winning six by Rishabh Pant and play it in the Times Square. If that doesn't get Americans into cricket, nothing will.”
