India National Cricket Team premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who is leading the side in the ongoing three-match T20I series against Ireland National Cricket Team, escaped an injury in his comeback game at the Malahide in Dublin on Friday, August 18.

Bumrah is being seen in action against Ireland in the first T20I after an 11-month hiatus. Before today, he had played for India in September 2022, before being ruled out of cricket due to a lower-back stress fracture for which he had to undergo surgery.

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah gave a scare to fans of Indian cricket while fielding during his comeback game as he nearly collided with a fielder while trying to stop the ball from reaching the boundary.

The incident took place on the 5th ball of the 14th over when Washington Sundar was bowling to Curtis Campher. The off-spinner bowled a length ball angling onto off-stump and Campher shuffled to ramp it over short fine. Bumrah and Ravi Bishnoi were seen chasing the ball from two different directions.

Both the players were very close to the ball as it raced towards the boundary and Bishnoi dived to stop it while Bumrah jumped over the spinner to avoid a nasty collision. After watching the replays a few times the third umpire declared it as a boundary.

That’s great news for Indian cricket – Sourav Ganguly on Jasprit Bumrah’s return

Former India captain and BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly, while talking about Jasprit Bumrah’s comeback, said that it is a piece of great news for Indian cricket. He added that Bumrah’s return makes the bowling attack of the side stronger.

“I’ve spoken to some players at the NCA, and they said he’s at his best…Bumrah was bowling at almost 90 miles per hour the other day. That’s great news for Indian cricket,” Ganugly said on the sideline of a promotional event.

“With Bumrah, (Mohammed) Shami, (Mohammed) Siraj, they have a fantastic attack to go with (Ravindra) Jadeja, Axar (Patel), Kuldeep (Yadav); they have enormous talent. How can that team be unsettled?” he stated.

“It’s just that they played new players in the West Indies and you will see that by the time the World Cup comes, and when they pick the team, it will be a top side. It’s about how you play during that tournament,” said Ganguly.
