IND vs IRE: Watch - Jasprit Bumrah Makes Sensational Comeback, Bags 2 Wickets In First Over

The 29-year-old India National Cricket Team pacer Jasprit Bumrah made a triumphant return to international cricket after recovering from injury in the first T20I of the three-match series against Paul Stirling-led Ireland National Cricket Team at the Malahide in Dublin on Friday, August 18.

Bumrah is making his comeback to competitive cricket after a long wait of 327 days. Before today’s match against Ireland, Bumrah had played in September 2022 before being ruled out with a severe back injury which also required surgery to become match-fit.

Bumrah, who is leading India in the Ireland T20Is, won the toss and elected to bowl first. He decided to bowl the very first over for his side and on the first delivery he was smashed for a four.

However, he made a stunning comeback and castled Andy Balbirnie in the second ball, before bringing out his trademark arms out celebration. He then bowled two dots before dismissing the wicketkeeper-batter Lorcan Tucker for a duck on the fifth delivery of the over. He finished the overs by giving away just 4 runs.

“Boom is back and I hope that Back stays strong” – Irfan Pathan on Jasprit Bumrah

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan took to X to praise Bumrah as he bagged his first wicket in the comeback game. Pathan was also hopeful of Bumrah remaining injury free.

Speaking at the toss, Jasprit Bumrah said that he is delighted to be back in international cricket after a long period. Jasprit Bumrah said:

“The weather looks lovely. I feel good, looking forward to play some cricket. You realise what you were missing, very happy to be back. We expect nothing short of a fight from Ireland. As a fast bowler, I hope the pitch does something. We have two debuts – Rinku and Prasidh Krishna. Told them to just enjoy their cricket.
