IND vs IRE: 'Welcome Back King" - Fans Erupt In Joy As Jasprit Bumrah Makes India Comeback

Fans on Twitter were filled with joy after premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah was named as the captain of the India National Cricket Team for the upcoming tour of Ireland and they showered messages of strength for the speedster.

On Monday, July 31, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India’s squad for the upcoming tour of Ireland. Captain Hardik Pandya and vice-captain Suryakumar Yadav were rested for the series and Jasprit Bumrah, who made his much-awaited return, was handed the leadership responsibility with Ruturaj Gaikwad serving as his deputy.

Bumrah has been out of action for an extended period of time due to a back injury. He was last seen in action on September 25, 2022, against Australia.

His back injury turned out to be a severe one and forced him to miss mega events like ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 and ICC World Test Championship Final. The pacer underwent surgery in March and then traveled to NCA for his rehabilitation.

Jasprit Bumrah’s return is a massive boost for Team India, considering two major tournaments are approaching in Asia Cup 2023 and ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. The team management will be hoping that the pacer returns to his best ahead of the multi-nation events.

Meanwhile, the India tour of Ireland 2023 consists of a short three-match T20I series. The matches are scheduled to be held at the Malahide in Dublin on August 18, 20 and 23. The T20Is series has been picked for Bumrah’s return as it will allow him to smoothly make his comeback by bowling 4 overs per match.
