As Virat Kohli continues his unstoppable form, former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik had a hilarious suggestion to tackle the India batting superstar. The India batting mainstay, on Sunday (November 5), starred with the bat as the Men in Blue thrashed South Africa by 243 runs at the Eden Gardens to continue their winning run in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

The right-handed batsman played an unbeaten knock of 101 runs to help India post a big total of 326 for 5 on a tough pitch. He stood firm at one end and ensured that the hosts remained on the front foot throughout. Virat Kohli mixed caution with aggression to keep the scoreboard ticking at a healthy rate and eventually reached his century in the 49th over.

He remained unbeaten on 101 off 121 balls with the help of 10 fours. Chasing 327, South Africa failed to pose any challenge whatsoever for the high-flying hosts. Riding on Ravindra Jadeja’s career-best spell of 5 for 33, India bowled out South Africa for a paltry total of 83 runs to make it eight wins from eight games in the ongoing tournament.

Shoaib Malik’s suggestion to stop Virat Kohli:

Virat Kohli has looked almost unstoppable in the ongoing tournament. In what could be very well his last ODI World Cup, the India star has already piled up 543 runs in 8 matches at a stunning average of 109. He is currently the second-highest run-scorer in the competition behind South Africa’s Quinton de Kock who has scored 550 runs.

He has hit four fifties and two centuries in 8 innings so far. And as teams find it extremely tough to tackle the India star, Shoaib Malik has suggested a hilarious solution. The former Pakistan skipper was on an A Sports show when the host asked him about stopping Virat Kohli. The question was asked by a fan. In reply, Shoaib Malik said: “TV band kardo. (Switch off the TV)”

Watch:

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli equaled Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most centuries in ODIs with his latest knock. He now has 49 centuries in the 50-over format and would be looking to break Tendulkar’s record in India’s upcoming game. India will take on the Netherlands in Bengaluru in their last league game before playing the semifinal.
