IND vs NEP: Dinesh Karthik Speaks On Shreyas Iyer's Batting Against Pakistan, Says "I Was Very Happy With What He Did"

Veteran India player Dinesh Karthik opened up on Shreyas Iyer’s performance against Pakistan on Saturday (September 2nd) at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy and said that he is very happy after seeing Iyer’s performance against the Men in Green.

Shreyas Iyer was out of action for more than five months after he suffered an injury in the fourth match of the Border-Gavaskar trophy against Australia. Following this he went through surgery and was out of the field for more than five months.

However, he was included in the Asia Cup 2023 squad and made his return to the playing eleven against Pakistan, where he scored 14 runs from nine balls with a strike rate of 155.56.

While speaking to Cricbuzz, Dinesh Karthik praised Shreyas Iyer and said that he got his position back after returning back from injury. Karthik added that he was happy seeing Shreyas Iyer’s playing style against Pakistan.

“I was very happy with what he did in the Pakistan game. I thought he got into good positions. Enjoy the experience. It has not happened before. What you guys have done so far is very, very inspirational for the country. Playing Qualifiers like you did, winning 12 on the bounce to get into the World Cup 2023 Qualifiers. It is not easily achievable, not many teams have done that. So, be very proud of what you have achieved,” Dinesh Karthik said.

Dinesh Karthik asked the fans not to feel disappointed after the match against Pakistan was canceled with no result.

“Don’t get too disappointed with your losses that have happened against Pakistan, and could in many ways, happen against India, if a full match takes place. I think it is a great experience where you get to rub shoulders with some of the best in the business. (Later in the video) For a lot of players in that Nepal team, to play against India is a dream in itself,” Dinesh Karthik added.
