Rohit Sharma, on Tuesday (January 24), finally ended his long century drought with a whirlwind knock against New Zealand during the third ODI in Indore. The India skipper made the most of a good batting pitch as he gave the team a solid start with the bat.

After New Zealand skipper Tom Latham decided to bowl first, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill came out all guns blazing with the bat. The duo took the New Zealand bowlers to the cleaners right from the word go and shared a mammoth stand.

The partnership eventually came to an end in the 27th over when Michael Bracewell castled Rohit Sharma. Prior to departing, Rohit had scored 101 runs while sharing a 212-run stand with Shubman Gill for the first wicket. His stunning knock contained 9 fours and 6 sixes. The century came off just 83 balls.

It was Rohit’s first century in ODIs since 2020. He also equalled legendary Australian batter Ricky Ponting’s record of 30 ODI centuries. Apart from Rohit, Gill scored a century too while Hardik Pandya smashed a quickfire fifty as India posted a massive total of 385 for 9 in the allotted 50 overs.

Blair Tickner’s baffling reaction after hitting Rohit Sharma:

Rohit Sharma did not face too many problems during his impressive knock in Indore. He looked at ease right from the start as he hammered the New Zealand bowlers all around the part. New Zealand pacer Blair Tickner, however, gave the India batting star a painful moment.

And that was not it, Tickner was also seen sporting a huge grin after hitting Rohit’s gloves. The incident took place when Rohit was batting on 99. The second ball of the 26th over was a bit short outside off although it gave Rohit no room to play his shot.

The ball went on to hit him on the gloves and his reaction made it very clear that it was a painful blow. Rohit soon took off his gloves and checked on his fingers. And while Rohit was grimacing in pain, Tickner was seen having a good laugh.
