Former Pakistan player Mushtaq Ahmad has said that Babar Azam might leave the field whenever Pakistan is in a difficult position during upcoming matches in the ICC World Cup 2023. Mushtaq Ahmad also revealed why he would do so.

Babar Azam is the skipper of Pakistan in the ICC World Cup 2023. Although he has failed to come up with good knocks in two games so far, he has led the team to victories in both games under his leadership.

Babar Azam May Go Off The Field In Upcoming Games: Mushtaq Ahmad

While speaking to a local TV channel, former Pakistan spinner Mushtaq Ahmad said that Babar Azam might go off the field during difficult positions in the matches. He said that he might do it to consult the coaching staff and management about the game plan.

“In my opinion, Babar Azam will go off the field whenever Pakistan will be in a difficult position in the coming matches as well. Babar will take a break and speak to the coaching staff since sending messages from the dressing room undermines a captain. The captain coming off the field is a better thing to do,” Mushtaq Ahmad said.

He also revealed that England used a similar strategy with captain Alastair Cook and it also worked in many games.

“When I was working with the England team, we told Alastair Cook that whenever he is in a tight spot he should come off the field and talk to the management about how he feels and the game plan. The discussion with the coaching staff helped change the course of matches on many occasions, both in Test and ODI cricket, when Cook again went back on the field,” Mushtaq further said.
