Pakistan’s chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq engaged in offering guidance to players during practice sessions before the team’s first match in the ICC World Cup 2023. However, foreign coaches have reportedly expressed concerns about Inzamam-ul-Haq’s involvement.

Inzamam-ul-Haq made an unexpected arrival in India ahead of Pakistan’s first match against the Netherlands in Hyderabad. He shared his extensive experience of playing in India and participated in strategic discussions alongside captain Babar Azam and the management.

As per Cricket Pakistan, Inzamam expressed his desire to visit India, which was accepted by Zaka Ashraf. The former Pakistan skipper provided input on selecting the playing XI during the first two matches. He will advise the team remotely for the remaining matches.

Foreign coaches have conveyed their reservations about Inzamam’s participation. These concerns are being addressed privately in the best interest of the team. Nonetheless, he has expressed his opinions, and this approach is anticipated to continue upon his return.

Foreign coaches are experiencing uncertainty in light of recent changes within the board, with their fate set to be decided after the World Cup. The present management has chosen to prioritize stability, given the significance of the ongoing marquee tournament.

Pakistan Started The World Cup On A High Note

The Babar Azam-led team started the marquee tournament on a high note, despite visiting India for the first time in seven years. They defeated the Netherlands and Sri Lanka in their first two matches of the event at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

The Men Green registered a convincing 81-run victory against the Dutch in their first game of the showpiece event. The Pakistan team successfully chased down the target of 345 runs against Sri Lanka, marking the biggest run chase in the history of the ODI World Cup.

The Pakistan cricket team is currently in third place in the 10-team points table with four points to their tally. They will face arch-rivals India in their next match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, October 14.
