The upcoming high-voltage India vs Pakistan clash will be a special one for India fast-bowler Jasprit Bumrah. It will be his first ODI against Pakistan on home soil. The game will also be his first-ever ODI in Ahmedabad, his hometown.

But more than everything, the game will also give the India pace spearhead the opportunity to catch up with his mother in Ahmedabad. Speaking after his sparkling performance against Afghanistan in Delhi on Wednesday (October 11), the right-arm pacer stated that meeting his mother is ‘the first basic thing’ for him. He then stated that playing against Pakistan in Ahmedabad would be exciting.

“Yeah, obviously I’ve been away for a while now. I’ll be happy to see my mother at home. I’m going to see her. That’s the first basic thing for me. It’s obviously playing at home. I have not played a one-day international there. I played a Test match. So yeah, the atmosphere is going to be exciting. I’m sure a lot of people are going to come. So, it will be a sight to see. So yeah, hoping for the best over there,” Jasprit Bumrah said in the post-match press conference.

Jasprit Bumrah’s starring performance against Afghanistan:

Jasprit Bumrah was India’s best performer with the ball against Afghanistan. He was the only bowler to maintain an economy rate of less than 4 as he conceded only 39 runs in his 10 overs and picked up 4 crucial wickets. He gave India the first breakthrough by dismissing Ibrahim Zadran before dismissing Mohammad Nabi, Najibullah Zadran, and Rashid Khan towards the end to quash Afghanistan’s hopes of finishing the innings strongly.

The performance will definitely boost his confidence ahead of the huge clash against Pakistan. However, Jasprit Bumrah made it clear that he is not focusing on Pakistan’s batters and is just focusing on himself, saying:

“See every team will have batsmen, every team will have bowlers. We also have batsmen; we also have bowlers. We’re not preparing any special for any special team. Yes, we’re looking at ourselves more than the others because we’ve realized that if we focus on our team, we focus on our strengths everything else takes care of itself.

“So we are focusing on our team, our preparation. If everything that is there in our control, we control that, that gives us the best chance. So that is what our team is focusing on,” he added.
