IND vs PAK: I Don't Count It As A Wicket: S Sreesanth On Shaheen Afridi Dismissing Virat Kohli

Former India cricketer S Sreesanth spoke on Virat Kohli’s dismissal to Shaheen Afridi in the Asia Cup 2023 on Saturday (September 2nd) against Pakistan at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy. Sreesanth said he does not consider Virat Kohli’s dismissal as a wicket.

In the most anticipated match of the Asia Cup 2023, Rohit Sharma-led India batted first and struggled in front of Pakistani pacers.

Shaheen Afridi once again proved why he is considered one of the best pacers with the new ball. Afridi picked four wickets in the match, including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Ravinder Jadeja. Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah also took three wickets each.

However, Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya made a solid partnership and helped India to a target of 267 runs. But later the match was cancelled without any result as rain poured down before the second inning and barred Pakistan from batting.

While speaking to Sportskeeda, Sreesanth said that it was sad for the Men in Blues and that Babar Azam-led Pakistan were lucky to get Virat Kohli’s wicket only because it was inside edge and that is why the former player don’t consider it as a wicket.

The former player stated that he knows Kohli well and what was going in his head when the Pakistani player was celebrating after his dismissal. Sreesanth further added that he is waiting for the upcoming India-Pakistan match in the Super Four.

“It was unfortunate for India. Pakistan were lucky to get Virat Kohli’s wicket because it was an inside edge. I don’t count it as a wicket. I know him personally, which is why I know what would have been going through his mind after seeing Pakistan’s celebration. I am just waiting for the next India-Pakistan match,” Sreesanth said on Virat Kohli.

Sreesanth thinks that Rohit Sharma doesn’t always struggle in front of left-arm pacers and when someone is in form everything clicks.

The former pacer observed how Rohit Sharma was hitting hard at first and included that both Rohit and Virat were looking good on the crease.

“I won’t say Rohit Sharma Sharma has always struggled against left-arm pacers. When you are in good form, everything clicks. He started off quite well, hitting flick even off a good ball.

“Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli looked very good. After watching Virat Kohli’s cover drive, I thought he would score a century. Just wait for the next match. Let any left-arm pacer come, we will dominate him,” Sreesanth added.

India will play against Pakistan again in the third Super Four match on Sunday (September 10th) at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
