Former Pakistan cricketer Saqlain Mushtaq feels that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli praise Pakistan players too much during press conferences. Saqlain Mushtaq also feels that they should shy away from such things because it is benefitting the Pakistan team.
During the recent IND vs PAK game in the group stage of Asia Cup 2023, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli completely failed to come up with a good show against Pakistan. Shaheen Afridi dismissed both batters in quick succession to give a big blow to India’s top order.

While speaking to Pakistan channel Samaa TV, former Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq advised Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to not praise Pakistan players too much.
“When, as a leader, you talk in your group or talk to media, you show your eye contact. Little things mean a lot. Whenever there’s presser, when you talk about opposition too much, praise them too much, the youngsters do feel, ‘they are good. they are better’,” said Mushtaq, who played 49 Tests and 169 ODIs for Pakistan during his career.
Saqlain Mushtaq, who represented Pakistan team from 1995 to 2004, also said feels that talking too much for Pakistan players is benefiting Pakistan players.
“It’s a skill game, but it’s also a game of mindset. India have great players but I’m sorry, they are praising Pakistan too much. And it’s a good sign for us. Virat and Rohit, they’re talking too much about Shaheen, Nasem, Babar Azam. And it’s good for us,” the 46-year-old further said.
The IND vs PAK clash in the group stage was washed out due to rain after India’s batting. Pakistan Pacers did a marvelous job in the match. Shaheen Afridi picked 4 wickets, Naseen Shah hunted 3 wickets, and Haris Rauf hunted 3 scalps to bundle out India for 266 in 48.5 overs.
