The organizers and the security officials are taking absolutely no risk regarding security ahead of the high-voltage clash between Team India and Pakistan in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The highly-awaited match is scheduled to be played on Sunday (June 9) in New York.

Ahead of the game, security has become a major talking point after a pro-ISIS group has reportedly threatened to target the game. Although there has been no credible threat being identified so far, the security officials are taking absolutely no risk. The security measures will be further heightened when the game will take place later this weekend.

According to a report in the BBC, there will be police snipers at covert locations around the ground. The Nassau County Police Department will oversee a massive operation to ensure the games held at the venue pass off without incident. There will be SWAT teams as well. Additionally, plainclothes police officers will be operating inside the ground.

"The safety and security of everyone at the event is our number one priority and we have a comprehensive and robust security plan in place," the ICC told the news outlet.

"We work closely with authorities in our host countries and continually monitor and evaluate the global landscape to ensure appropriate plans are in place to mitigate any risks identified to our event," it added.

The report further stated that the parkland surrounding the temporary stadium will be closed to the public on all the match days in order to deal with any potential drone attack. The fans, who will be attending the games, will have to go through airport-style security scanners before being permitted inside the stadium.
