IND Vs PAK: Tilak Varma Celebrates Dewald Brevis' South Africa Debut Against Australia, Mumbai Indians Shares Video

Star India batsman, Tilak Varma celebrated Dewald Brevis’ South Africa debut in the first T20I match against Australia on Wednesday (August 30th) at Kingsmead in Durban.

In the first inning of the match, Australia went to bat first and gave a target of 227 runs after Mitchell Marsh and Tim David displayed a stellar knock.

Mitchell Marsh, who has been the captain of the Aussie squad since Pat Cummins was left out due to an injury, played a 92-run knock from 49 balls with a strike of 187.76.

On the other hand, 27-year-old Tim David scored 64 runs from 28 balls with a massive strike rate of 228.57.

Lizaad Williams led the South African bowling attack picked up three wickets in his four-over spell and gave away 44 runs. Meanwhile, Marco Jansen, Gerald Coetzee, and Tabraiz Shamsi all picked one wicket each.

In the second inning, the South African opener, Reeza Hendricks tried to pull the Proteas and scored 56 runs from 43 balls with a strike rate of 130.23 but was dismissed by Tim David.

Dewald Brevis, the debutant failed to make a mark in his first match and scored only five runs from six balls. Not a debut match, the Baby AB has imagined as South Africa lost the match 111 runs.

Tilak Varma is currently with the Indian squad to start their Asia Cup 2023 and reached Sri Lanka on Wednesday (August 30th). However, the 20-year-old Indian batsman did fail to switch on the television to watch Dewald Brevis’ debut match.

In a video shared by Mumbai Indians on their social media accounts, we can see that when the Baby AB was given the T20I by the skipper, Tilak Varma shouted ‘that’s my boy’ out of excitement.

Meanwhile, Tilak Varma and Dewald Brevis’ Mumbai Indians teammate, Suryakumar Yadav shot the video of the exceptional moment.

When Tilak Varma made his debut with the Men in Blues against West Indies, Dewald Brevis shared the somewhat similar video and wished his Mumbai Indians teammate luck.

India will lock horns against Pakistan in their opening match of the tournament on Saturday (September 2nd) at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka.
