Iceland Cricket mocked the Pakistan national cricket team following their loss to the United States of America (USA) in the T20 World Cup 2024. Iceland Cricket lauded the United States of America for their brilliant effort to defeat Pakistan in the Super Over during the 11th match of the ongoing ICC World Cup.

The United States of America scripted history by defeating the Pakistan cricket team at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Thursday, June 6. The match went to a Super Over after both teams ended on 159 runs. The home team successfully defended 19 runs in the Super Over to secure their first victory over Pakistan.

Iceland Cricket took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to praise the USA's exceptional performance in the Super Over, using food analogies. The cricket board commended Aaron Jones for his batting, and Saurabh Netravalkar for his bowling, describing the overall performance as sensational.

Saurabh Netravalkar Defends 18 Runs In Super Over Against Pakistan

Skipper Babar Azam entrusted the ball to experienced left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir to bowl the Super Over. Aaron Jones and Harmeet Singh took the crease for the USA team in the crucial over. Jones started with a boundary off the first delivery against Amir, followed by two runs towards long-on.

The Pakistani bowler managed a perfect yorker on the third ball and conceded a single. The left-arm pace bowler was inconsistent with his bowling, leading to wides and extra runs. The home team managed to score 18 runs in six deliveries. Pakistan conceded just one extra run in the crucial over.

The Men in Green sent Iftikhar Ahmed and Fakhar Zaman to bat in the chase. Saurabh Netravalkar took the ball to bowl the Super Over. Netravalkar began with a dot ball before Iftikhar hit a boundary on the next delivery. However, Iftikhar was dismissed on the third ball while playing an attacking shot.

Shadab Khan came in to bat at No. 3. He managed to get a couple of runs from the penultimate delivery. Netravalkar bowled a wide yorker and conceded just one run when Pakistan needed a six off the last ball to tie. The USA clinched their second victory in the tournament and topped the table in Group A.

The USA needs to win at least one of their two remaining games to advance to the Super 8 stages of the tournament. The USA will take on the Indian team at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Wednesday, June 12. They will lock horns with Canada in their final group match in Florida on June 14.
