Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh admired Rohit Sharma’s remarkable achievements during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Yuvraj Singh expressed his hope that Rohit Sharma would lead the Indian team to victory in the World Cup 2023 as captain.

Rohit Sharma broke multiple records in India’s eight-wicket victory against Afghanistan. The right-handed batter scored 131 runs off 84 balls, including 16 fours and 5 sixes. He surpassed former batter Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most centuries in ODI World Cup history.

Rohit Sharma Can Break Any Record – Yuvraj Singh

In a conversation with ANI, Yuvraj Singh praised Rohit Sharma’s incredible ability to break records, considering him one of the game’s greats.

“Rohit Sharma has broken many big records, I think he has so much capability that he can break any record. He is definitely one of the greats of the game. He has scored 31 ODI hundreds which is a big achievement,” Yuvraj told ANI.

“He is still not done yet and hopefully, he will win India a World Cup as captain. He played the role of an opener in the second stage. Before he used to play in the middle order,” the former Indian all-rounder added.

Rohit surpassed Chris Gayle for the most sixes in international cricket. He scored his seventh century in the ODI World Cup, setting a record for the most centuries by any player in the tournament’s history. He also reached the milestone of 1000 runs in the ODI World Cup.

India have a good record against Pakistan in ODI World Cup matches, winning all seven encounters. Yuvraj Singh expressed the significance of the game being played in India after a long time.

“It is good for both the teams that after so many years the match is being held in India. Hopefully, this will be a good match,” Yuvraj added.

The Rohit Sharma-led team will face Babar Azam-led Pakistan in their next match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, October 14. The two teams haven’t faced each other in the 50-over format since the 2019 World Cup.
