IND vs SA: Andile Phehlukwayo And Ottniel Baartman Ruled Out Of India vs South Africa ODI Series

South African players Ottniel Baartman and Andile Phehlukwayo have been ruled out of the India vs South Africa ODI series. South Africa shared the update on their official Twitter accounts. Both players have been ruled out due to injuries.

Ottniel Baartman has suffered a right side strain while Andile Phehlukwayo has faced a left side stain. Beuran Hendricks has been added as a replacement to the squad. India vs South Africa ODI series will witness two more games.

Beuran Hendricks is a left-arm pacer. The 33-year-old has some experience in the national team. Beuran Hendricks has played 1 Test, 8 ODIs, and 19 T20Is for South Africa. However, he has been out of the field for almost 2 years. Henricks last played for South Africa during a T20I game against Ireland in July 2021.

Ottniel Baartman Did Not Feature In Any Game In IND vs SA Series

Ottniel Baartman is a 30-year-old pacer from South Africa. The right-arm pacer is an uncapped player who was picked for IND vs SA ODI series in the absence of key pacers like Kagiso Rabada, Lingi Ngidi, and Anrich Nortje.

He was not part of the playing 11 in the 1st ODI. Baartman was also part of the IND vs SA T20I series but did not feature in any of the two matches that took place.

On the other hand, Andile Phehlukwayo was part of the IND vs SA 1st ODI. The all-rounder scored 33 runs for the team and was the top run-getter amid Proteas’ batting collapse in the match. He also picked 1 wicket in the match. In the T20I series, the left-handed batter hit 10 runs in two games. The right-arm seamer went wicketless in both games.

IND vs SA 2nd ODI Takes Place On December 19

Meanwhile, The India vs South Africa 2nd ODI will take place on Tuesday, December 19. The venue of the match is St George’s Park in Gqeberha. India leads the series 1-0 after winning the opening game by 8 wickets.

In the opening game, the visitors completely outplayed South Africa. Pacers Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan hunted 5 and 4 wickets respectively to dismantle Proteas for 116 in 1st innings. Later, Sai Sudharsan and Shreyas Iyer slammed half-centuries to propel India to victory by 8 wickets.
