Team India will take on South Africa in their next match of the ICC World Cup 2023 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday, November 2. Head Coach Rahul Dravid expressed satisfaction with the surface for the match between the top two teams in the table.

Rahul Dravid and his coaching staff made a brief stop at Eden Gardens to inspect the pitch designated for Sunday’s crucial game. Although the team bus proceeded to the hotel from the Kolkata airport, Dravid headed towards the stadium to assess the pitch.

Rahul Dravid Seemed Satisfied With The Tract – CAB Curator

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) curator, Mukherjee, said that Rahul Dravid seemed satisfied with the track, noting that they have produced good pitches in the past. He stated that the pitch would offer an even bounce, providing value for batters’ shots.

“The head coach seemed satisfied with the track. We have produced good wickets at Eden. The bounce will be even and batters will get value for their shots. But bottomline is, one needs to play well. Sri Lanka got all out for 55. Was it a bad track?” CAB curator Mukherjee told PTI.

The team India head coach took the time to assess the pitch upon the team’s arrival in Kolkata, and the majority of the outfield was covered due to concerns about unseasonal showers. The pitch for the upcoming World Cup match is expected to favor batters.

The Grass Kept Is Very Minimal – A CAB Official

The TOI reported that the match will be played on the same pitch used for the Netherlands-Bangladesh game. The report also mentioned that the pitch is made of black soil with minimal grass cover, which should allow batters to play their shots with confidence.

“The match would be played on the same track where Holland played Bangladesh. That was first game and after that some work has been done on the track. The grass kept is very minimal and Eden is always a black soil track.”

“So it will be hard strip where one can hit through the line. This Indian line-up, if they bat first, can score 300 plus,” a CAB official who closely monitors pitch preparation said.
