South Africa skipper Aiden Markram was spot on with his leadership, fielding, and bowling in the ongoing third ODI against India. The series decider between the teams is taking place at Boland Park in Paarl.

Aiden Markram had a great outing in the field and was one of the main reasons why South Africa restricted India under 300. While he impressed many with his bowling, what caught the attention of many was the catch that he took to remove Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar.

During the 5th ball of the 49th over, Beauran Hendricks bowled a low full toss to Washington Sundar. The all-rounder hammered it down the ground but he didn’t get the proper connection and the ball didn’t clear the long off.

Aiden Markram, who was stationed there, held the ball and as he realized that momentum would take him towards the ropes, he tossed the ball up in the air and went close to the boundary before managing to regain his balance and taking the catch comfortably.

Here’s the video:

Washington Sundar played a decent knock for the team. He played a cameo of 14 runs for his team off 9 balls and helped his team get some valuable runs. With the kind of touch, he looked in it is fair to say that Aiden Markam with his catch saved some crucial runs for his team in the end.

Aiden Markram also was nothing short of exceptional in the game with the ball. The South Africa skipper bowled economical five overs and chipped in at a crucial stage for his team. He conceded just 19 runs in his spell and had an economy of just under 4, which depicts how well a job he did for his team as a 6th bowler.

IND vs SA: Aiden Markram’s team restricted India to 296 runs in the third ODI

Proteas skipper Aiden Markram won the toss and put India into bat first. The Men in Blue didn’t have a great start as they lost debutant Rajat Patidar (22) and Sai Sudharsan (10) early. India came under pressure but after that, Sanju Samson (108) and skipper KL Rahul (21) lost their wicket early.

Things got worse for India when skipper KL Rahul fell cheaply and the team was reeling at 101-3. Sanju then joined hands with Tilak Varma (52) and the duo together bailed the team out of trouble as they batted sensibly and took calculated risks that made sure that visitors stayed in the game.

While Tilak perished after scoring a valiant half-century, Sanju smashed a staggering ton and put his team in a dominating position. Rinku Singh in the end did what he does best. He finished the innings on high and scored 38 runs that powered India to a total of 296 runs.

For South Africa, Beauran Hendricks was the pick of the bowlers as he picked three wickets. Nandre Burger bagged two wickets whereas Wiaan Mulder and Keshav Maharaj also chipped in. The onus will now be on batters including Aiden Markram to take the team home and win the series.
