South Africa continued from where they left on Day 2 of the first Test match against India and have already gained a massive lead of over a hundred runs in the first innings. However, the attack didn’t stop and Gerald Coetzee started to hit boundaries from the first ball and cleared up his intentions.
Gerald Coetzee and Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna shared a cold stare during the second ball of the 99th of South Africa’s first innings. Coetzee hit Krishna for a six over the long on region by hitting a front foot pull shot and gave him a cold stare.
Prasidh Krishna has not had the best of the debut matches and has given runs close to five runs an over. Krishna was not able to leave any impact in his debut Test match and batters went after him from the first ball.

Apart from the cold stare between Prasidh Krishna and Gerald Coetzee, South Africa opener Dean Elgar was dismissed for 185 runs. Elgar displayed a brilliant temperament throughout his innings and slammed his 14th Test hundred in his farewell Test series.
Dean Elgar is amongst the most underrated batsmen of the South African cricket team and has played many famous knocks for his team and has also led them to some famous Test wins. Elgar is the most experienced batsman in the current South African batting lineup and is playing his last international Test series.
Dean Elgar also became the first Proteas batsman to slam a hundred against India in any home Test after 2014.
Speaking about the India vs South Africa first Test match, the game till now has belonged to the hosts as they have played a lot of attacking cricket in the match so far. The Indian batters struggled to score runs in their first innings and played a lot of defensive shots. However, it didn’t work on a bouncy SuperSport Park pitch as the Indian batsmen got out behind the wickets.
On the other hand, the South African batsmen played a lot of aggressive shots from the start of their innings, which was also the clear intent to bat on such a difficult batting surface. The result says it all the the Proteas are well ahead in the match.
India have never won a Test series in South Africa in the past 31 years and have won just three Tests on the South African lands in the last 11 years. The Indian team have lost the past two Test series in South Africa by a margin of 2-1.
India had the best chance to win a Test series against the Proteas as they won the first match of the series in Centurion but they ended up losing the rest two Tests and lost the series.
India currently have the best pace attack in the world, however, their approach has not been the same as they used to portray in some of their famous overseas Test wins. India might also miss the services of Mohammed Shami who has been in sublime form in the last few months.
