Nandre Burger ended the first Test of the IND vs SA series with seven wickets with three and four wickets in both innings respectively. Burger is a young left-arm pace bowler, who hits the deck and has a lot of potential to take South Africa to new heights in the bowling department.
Apart from showing promise in the ongoing IND vs SA series, Nandre Burger tried to sledge Indian batsman Virat Kohli. The incident took place during the third ball of the 15th over when Virat had just come out to bat after the fall of Rohit Sharma.

Sledging is something Virat Kohli is very best at and is one of the most aggressive players in international cricket. While, Nandre Burger tried to sledge Kohli and show some aggression, former Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar warned Burger from doing so. Gavaskar said on air, “Virat Kohli is the wrong man to do your aggression”.
The Indian cricket team are currently in a commanding position in the ongoing Test match against South Africa and wrapped them up for 55 runs in the first innings. It was a Mohammed Siraj show with the ball for the Indian cricket team, as he ended the innings with figures of 5/15 in nine overs. Apart from Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar picked up two wickets a piece.
The Indian team started aggressively, with Indian captain Rohit Sharma hitting 13 runs from the first over of Lungi Ngidi. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal didn’t trouble the scorers and was dismissed for a duck by Kagiso Rabada. Shubman Gill who came into bat at number three looked settled from ball one and started to play some decent shots against the South African pacers.
Rohit Sharma and Shumban Gill got out for 39 and 36 runs whereas Shreyas Iyer has been removed for a duck. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are at the crease and the Indian team has scored 111/4 at Tea and lead by 56 runs.
The Indian team now have the best chance to win its first Test match at the Sahara Park Newlands and also finish the 2023/24 South African tour with a win. The Indian team will also level the series 1-1 if they win the second Test and this will be one of the best results that they will ever expect from a Test series in South Africa.
Currently, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul will aim to build a partnership and take the Indian team to a solid first innings score. If India can do so, the Proteas would be rightly under pressure and might repeat the same batting show they displayed in the first innings and also create an easy way for India to win the match. The last time India played in Cape Town they lost the match by seven wickets.
