IND vs SL: Best India Playing XI For The T20I Series (Predicted).  Team India and Sri Lanka will play three ODIs and as many T20Is between December 2022 and January 2023. Team India is likely to host Sri Lanka for a white-ball series following the Bangladesh tour in December 2022. According to a report, both the South Asian nations will play three ODIs and as many T20Is between December 2022 and January 2023.

After the ongoing New Zealand tour comprising 3 T20Is (won by India 1-0) and 3 ODIs (New Zealand leading 1-0 after 2 ODIs), the Men in Blue will tour Bangladesh to play a white-ball ODI series followed by a Test series.

Notably, Indian selectors have announced the squad for ODI and Test series with Rohit Sharma trusted to lead the squad in both series. While Indian selectors have rested a few senior players from the New Zealand tour, the full-strength squad has been named against Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, In February 2022, Sri Lanka has already toured India. The Sri Lankan team played an all-format series against India in February-March 2022. The visitors got thrashed by the Indians in all formats of the game. India won the Test series 2-0 & T20I Series 3-0.

The Sri Lankan cricket board again wants to schedule a white ball tour. Meanwhile, so, the December-January window has been chosen for the Sri Lanka tour of India white ball games.

Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of both ODI and Test series against Bangladesh. Ravindra Jadeja is currently recovering from his knee surgery. However, with a short turnaround for the Bangladesh Test series, he will miss out. Instead, he will prepare for a return in home series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand in January.

India are likely to be without the services of current T20I skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, among others, in the next edition of 2024 T20I World Cup, which would make up for a highly new-look side.

Virat Kohli rediscovered his best and was one of the standout batters of the T20 World Cup 2022, but is likely to call it quits on the shortest version, given the workload management and key assignments in the other two formats, including the 2023 ODI World Cup at home.

India Predicted XI For Sri Lanka T20Is:- Ishan Kishan, Prithvi Shaw, KL Rahul, Sanju Samson, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh.

Ishan Kishan

With the trio of Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma probably retiring from T20Is in 2024, the gates may open for Ishan Kishan, who will face tough competition from Ruturaj Gaikwad, though for the opener’s slot.

Ishan Kishan has amassed 589 runs from 21 T20Is including 4 fifties. His highest score of 89 came against Sri Lanka in February 2022. His competitor Ruturaj Gaikwad hasn’t tasted much success in T20Is managing only 135 runs in 9 T20Is averaging a mere 16.88.

Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi Shaw will face tough competition from KL Rahul for the opener’s slot. KL Rahul has played 72 T20Is managing 2265 runs averaging 37.75 including 2 tons and 22 fifties. KL Rahul though is aged 30 and Prithvi Shaw is aged only 23. Prithvi Shaw has played 6 ODIs and 1 T20I. He though, might get more chances in the future.

Prithvi Shaw has been in breathtaking form across formats in the domestic circuit. He scored 355 runs in six matches in Ranji Trophy and in seven matches in this Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he amassed 285 runs at 47.50 and at a strike rate of 191.27. Shubman Gill, uncapped in T20Is,  is another option for the opener’s slot alongside KL Rahul and Ruturaj Gaikwad.

KL Rahul has played 72 T20Is managing 2265 runs averaging 37.75 including 2 tons and 22 fifties. He had scored two fifties in the T20 World Cup 2022 against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe but failed to cross double digits against heavyweight teams.

The pattern was similar in Asia Cup 2022, where he scored 62 against Afghanistan and 36 against Hong Kong but failed to score above 30 in other matches. He needs to regain his form before the 2024 T20 WC.

Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson debuted way back in 2015 in the shortest T20I format but has played only 16 T20Is, where he amassed 296 runs averaging 21.14. His only 1 fifty-77 came against Ireland. He will face tough competition from Rishabh Pant though.

Rishabh Pant, though, has failed to live up to expectations in T20Is of late and there are calls to axe him from T20Is as he’s been a liability. Rishabh Pant has managed 364 runs from 25 T20Is averaging 21.41. Overall, he averages a mere 22.43 from 66 T20Is amassing 987 runs.

Shreyas Iyer

Virat Kohli’s probable retirement from T20Is will open the gates for Shreyas Iyer, who has played 49 T20Is and has scored 1043 runs averaging 30.68. He has scored 7 T20Is including the highest of 74* against Sri Lanka in February 2022.

In that series, he was unbeaten throughout and managed 204 runs in 3 matches and was an obvious choice for MOS.  But after that, he has failed to live up to his reputation. In 2022, he managed 463 runs averaging 35.62 at a strike rate of 141.16.

Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav-the top-ranked T20I batter according to ICC Rankings is a man who can’t do any wrong in this T20I format and India’s own Mr. 360, is one of the most improved players and is going through a purple patch. He scored his 2nd T20I ton in the 1st T20I against the Kiwis, scoring 111* off only 51 balls at a strike rate of 217.65.

He was India’s 2nd highest run scorer and overall 3rd (after Virat Kohli-296, Max O’ Dowd-242) in ICC T20 World Cup 2022 with 239 runs averaging 59.75 at a strike rate of 189.68.

Suryakumar Yadav became the No.1 T20I batter after a superb showing in the Super 12 stage of the 2022 T20 World Cup, where he smashed three fifties in five innings. He has amassed 1408 runs in 42 T20Is averaging 44 at a phenomenal strike rate of 180.98 and will definitely play the 2024 T20 WC.

Hardik Pandya

Since regaining his full fitness, Hardik Pandya has just been seen winning games single-handedly for India and is contributing in all three facets of the game. He provides the team with the necessary balance, i.e., the 6th bowler. The right-handed batsman,  a veteran of 81 T20Is has amassed 1160 runs averaging 25.78 besides picking 62 scalps averaging 27.34.

He had picked 8 scalps averaging 18.25 in 6 T20Is in T20 World Cup 2022 besides scoring 128 runs. His 63 against England in the semis went in vain. He had picked 3/30 and scored 40 in India’s opening T20 WC Super 12 game against Pakistan.

Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja has played 64 T20Is managing 457 runs averaging 24.05 besides picking 51 scalps averaging 28.49. He was injured after playing in the Asia Cup 2022. Ravindra Jadeja missed the T20 World Cup 2022 due to injuries before being named in the ODI and Test squad for the Bangladesh tour. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is yet to fully recover from knee surgery that he underwent in September and will miss the Bangladesh tour as well.

Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar has played 32 T20Is since debuting in 2017. He has picked 26 scalps averaging 29.77. His last T20I was in March 2021 against England at home before the 2nd T20I against New Zealand, where he picked 1/24 in 2 overs.

Finally free of injuries, Washington Sundar is set for a new lease of life with Team India. As BCCI is set to phase out Ravichandran Ashwin in line with the T20 reboot following India’s 2022 T20 WC Exit, India needs an off-spinner. But more than that, India needs batting depth. Washington Sundar provides both to Team India.

He had a fractured finger before England tour and had tested Covid-19 positive missing the South Africa tour as well. He had a pulled hamstring in India’s tour of Sri Lanka. He missed IPL 2022 as well due to split webbing and a finger injury. His shoulder injury ruled him out of West Indies and Zimbabwe tours.

Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah missed the Asia Cup 2022 and T20 World Cup 2022 due to injuries. Jasprit Bumrah had missed the Asia Cup 2022 and was undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru alongside Harshal Patel.

Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of India’s T20I series against South Africa after complaining of back pain on the morning of the first T20I. Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the T20 World Cup as well with a back injury three days before the Indian team was to fly out for Australia. He had picked 70 scalps in 60 T20Is averaging 20.23.

Arshdeep Singh

The left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh has executed a spectacular performance in his short T20I career so far. He has picked 33 scalps in only 21 T20Is averaging 18.12. In the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2022, he picked 10 scalps in only 6 T20Is averaging a mere 15.6. In the T20I series against New Zealand, he picked 4 scalps in 2 games averaging 16.5 including a career-best of 4/37 in one game.
