IND vs SL: Jasprit Bumrah Leaves Wasim Akram Red-Faced After Latter Accuses Broadcasters Of Cheating

What promised to be a thrilling contest eventually turned out to be a one-sided contest as the much-anticipated India vs Pakistan match in the Super 4 of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 failed to live up to the hype. The Babar Azam-led side was thoroughly outplayed by the Men in Blue in the crucial encounter in Colombo.

Asked to bat first, Team India made sure to make Pakistan regret their decision as they piled up a mammoth total of 356 for 2 in the allotted 50 overs. Openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill laid the foundation for the big total by scoring fine fifties. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul then scored unbeaten centuries to power India to the big total.

In reply, Pakistan were all out for a paltry total of 128 runs to suffer their heaviest defeat in terms of runs against Team India. No batsmen from Pakistan including their talismanic captain Babar Azam failed to provide any resistance with the bat as Indian bowlers blew them away. After Jasprit Bumrah’s stunning opening spell, Kuldeep Yadav spun a web around the Pakistani batters and ended the game with 5 wickets to his name.

Wasim Akram left red-faced:

As Pakistan were struggling on the field, their former captain and pace spearhead Wasim Akram was having a hard time off it. The legendary pacer was left red-faced after his accusation against the broadcaster went wrong. During the innings break, Star Sports left Wasim Akram irritated by showing the results of an online poll.

The broadcasters asked the fans to choose between Babar Azam and Jasprit Bumrah, posing the question, ‘Who will win this battle today?’. And the fans voted overwhelmingly in favour of Jasprit Bumrah, leaving Wasim Akram irritated. Accusing the broadcasters of using fabricated data, Wasim Akram said:

“You guys are making these stats up. What? Babar is the No. 1 batter in the world. I mean, come on guys. Give him a little appreciation. Make it 3 percent at least. It will be a great battle. One of the top bowlers in world cricket against the No. 1 batter in the world, who apparently has just 2 percent chance against him.”

Well, it did not take Jasprit Bumrah long to justify the fans and leave Wasim Akram red-faced. The India pace spearhead had Babar Azam in all sorts of trouble with his stunning display. The right-arm pacer bowled 13 deliveries to the Pakistan captain and the latter managed to score only 4 runs while 11 of those deliveries were dots.
