IND vs SL: Watch - Shubman Gill Taken By Surprise As Dunith Wellalage Castles Him With Snorter

India and Sri Lanka are taking on each other in the Super Four game of the Asia Cup 2023 at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Opting to bat first, Shubman Gill and captain Rohit Sharma yet again gave their team a rollicking start in an important game. 

Captain Rohit Sharma played the aggressive role whereas Shubman Gill played the second fiddle to this skipper. The youngster played some beautiful shots as well and the duo together smashed their third consecutive half-century stand of the tournament. 

The stitched 80 runs for the opening partnership before Shubman Gill was back in the hut, courtesy of a jaffa from Dunith Wellage. It was a dream delivery from the Sri Lanka spinner as it beat the batter all ends up and went on to castle his stumps. 

Dunith Wellage bowled a flighted delivery round the wicket. The ball drifted in and Shubman Gill was drawn into the forward defence. The ball spun sharply past the outside edge and hit the top of the off-stump to send the Indian opener packing.

Shubman Gill ended with the knock with 19 runs off 25 balls. He scored two boundaries in his innings. During his innings, he also completed 1000 runs as a pair with captain Rohit Sharma at the top. 

IND vs SL: After Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli perishes too

After Shubman Gill perished, Virat Kohli fell to Dunith Wellalage as well in the very next over he bowled. The pitch certainly looked a different track as he extracted a lot of spin from the surface. Kohli, who scored a ton against Pakistan, was dismissed for the single-digit score. 

Dunuth Wellalage bowled a short delivery that stuck into the surface. Virat Kohli failed to control his flick as the ball didn’t come on and the batter gave the simple catch to mid-wicket. He ended with the knock of 3 runs off 12 balls.
