IND vs WI: Babar Azam Is Technically More Sound, I Can Dismiss Virat Kohli Easily - Naved-ul-Hasan

Former Pakistan National Cricket Team pacer Naved-ul-Hasan has shared his views on the Virat Kohli vs Babar Azam debate. According to the former cricketer, Babar Azam is technically more sound than Virat Kohli as a result, he fails very rarely.

Kohli and Babar are backbone of the their respective teams in international cricket. Babar is often compared to the modern-day batting great Kohli, thanks to his remarkable batting show in the last few years.

Former India captain Kohli has not been at his very best in the last few years and Babar, on the other hand, has been in absolutely terrific form. He has scored runs consistently and has shattered several huge records. In 2021, he ended Kohli’s reign as the top-ranked ODI batter and grabbed the No.1 spot in the ICC Rankings.

Meanwhile, Naved-ul-Hasan rated Babar above Kohli and highlighted the India batter’s long lean patch in international cricket.

“Whenever we compare Babar Azam or Virat Kohli, I always say Babar is more technically sound than him, and this is why he has rare failures. Kohli struggled recently for a year or year and a half because he is a bottom-handed player, and when these players fail it lasts longer,” said Naved on Nadir Ali Podcast.

Babar Azam is technically more sound but Virat Kohli has more shots than him – Naved-ul-Hasan

The 45-year-old further said that Kohli has got more shots in his bag than Babar, but the latter makes the fuller utilization of the shots he has got.

“Babar is technically more sound but Kohli has more shots than him. However, Babar makes good use of his limited shots.”

“The reason Kohli has more shots than Babar is because the pitches in India are superb for batting, he plays in the IPL where he faces world-class bowlers,” he said.

The former Pakistan National Cricket Team pacer further went on to make a colossal remark, stating that between Babar and Virat Kohli, he would have easily dismissed the latter.

“If I was in my old rhythm, then between the two I can get Kohli out easily. I had good outswing so I would have gotten him caught at slips or the wicketkeeper,” he added.

Virat Kohli has scored 8555 runs in Tests, 12898 runs in ODIs, and 4008 runs in T20Is, averaging over 50 in white-ball cricket and having an average close to 50 in Test cricket. He has smashed 75 centuries in international cricket and is only behind Sachin Tendulkar, who hit 100 tons.

Talking about Pakistan captain Babar Azam, the 28-year-old has scored 3709 runs in Tests, 5089 runs in ODIs, and 3485 runs in T20Is. He has an average of 48.17 in Tests, 59.17 in ODIs, and 41.49 in T20Is.
