Heaping praise on Virat Kohli, former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has said that the India star is a perfect role model for young cricketers around the world.
Virat Kohli, on Friday (July 21), scored a sublime century in the ongoing second Test between India and West Indies in Trinidad. The game was a historic one as it was the 100th Test between India and West Indies. It was also Virat Kohli’s 500th game in international cricket and the former India skipper hogged all the limelight by coming up with a stunning performance.
Virat Kohli scored 121 runs to rescue India again after they lost four wickets in quick time to find themselves 4 down for 182 from 139 for 0. He added a 159-run stand with Ravindra Jadeja before being run out by Alzarri Joseph.
Salman Butt heaps praise on Virat Kohli:
Virat Kohli has been praised for his commitment and hard work. With the conditions at the Queen’s Park Oval not really ideal for batting, the former India captain worked really hard for his runs and was eventually rewarded with the century. And Salman Butt has also heaped praise on Kohli for his commitment as he hailed him as the fittest cricketer.
“Looking at Virat Kohli’s fitness, he can continue playing. He has been scoring runs, and he is not just fit but one of the fittest players in the world. He could very well be the fittest cricketer. He is someone who is an institution in himself. His career is a roadmap for youngsters. Be it his nutrition, commitment, dedication, and ability to thrive under pressure, he is a brilliant example,” said Salman Butt while speaking on his YouTube channel.
Speaking about the contest between India and West Indies, the former Pakistan captain said that it has been one-sided so far. He stated that West Indies have looked like minnows against India and said that the hosts need to score more than 350 in the ongoing game to challenge the visitors.
“It has just been one-sided dominance so far. It seems as if India are playing against a minnow team. If West Indies somehow manage to get to 350 or 375, only then could we get to see some sort of contest. However, India are a superior bowling side. West Indies have the talent, but the batters tend to play extravagant shots once in a while, causing their downfall,” Butt said.
India had thrashed West Indies by an innings and 141 runs in the first Test to take the lead in the two-match series. In the ongoing game, India scored 438 in the first innings and West Indies were on 86 for 1 at stumps on day two.
