West Indies legend Sir Gary Sobers lauded ace Indian batter Kohli for his batting and acknowledged him as the top batter in the world at the moment. However, Gary Sobers admitted that he is unsure if Virat Kohli will break all batting records in international cricket.

Team India is currently taking on the West Indies in a three-match ODI series. Virat Kohli was rested for the second Test despite being in good touch with the bat in the Test series. He was demoted by team management in the batting order in the first ODI in Barbados.

Virat Kohli Is A Good Player – Gary Sobers

In an interaction with Rev Sportz, Gary Sobers opened up about his thoughts on Virat Kohli as a batter, saying he has never been surprised by the number of runs he has scored.

“I think he is a good player. He has the right approach, attitude, and he plays very well. I’ve never been surprised by the amount of runs he scored,” Sobers said.

Virat Kohli met Gary Sobers ahead of the first Test match against the West Indies. The Delhi-born cricketer had a brief chat with the legendary cricketer.

The Game Can Become Very Funny – Gary Sobers

When asked about the former Indian skipper breaking all the batting records in international cricket, Gary Sobers responded:

“Well, I wouldn’t say that because sometimes the game can become very funny. You can have some bowlers that are good too.”

And you have players who can do certain things with the ball at times and you don’t even think about. You have been playing often with these types of players, and if you are good enough, eventually you will rise,” he added.

The 34-year-old cricketer has represented the Indian team in 111 Tests, 275 ODIs, and 115 T20Is. The right-handed batter scored 8676 runs in Tests, 12898 runs in ODIs, and 4008 runs in T20Is. He has smashed a total of 76 centuries, second only to Sachin Tendulkar’s 100 centuries.
