IND vs WI: Mohammed Siraj Accuses West Indies Of Pitch Tampering

After winning the Player of the Match award in the IND vs WI 2nd Test, Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj said that he was pleased to win the award for the first time in Tests. The right-arm pacer grabbed the award for hunting down five wickets in the match.

Mohammed Siraj arrived with a marvelous spell in the 1st innings of India vs West Indies 2nd Test in Trinidad. The 29-year-old pacer grabbed 5 wickets for just 60 runs off his 23.4 -over spell.

He dismissed Joshua Da Silva (10), Jason Holder (15), Alzarri Joseph (4), Kemar Roach (4), and Shannon Gabriel (0) to crush West Indies’ lower batting order. With 5 wickets for 60 runs, Siraj also registered his best bowling figures in a Test innings.

Pleased To Win My First Player Of The Match Award in Tests: Mohammed Siraj

For his fabulous bowling spell, Siraj was handed the Player of the Match award in the IND vs WI 2nd Test. During the post-match presentation, the Hyderabad pacer said he was pleased to win his first man of the match award in Tests.

“This is my first Player of the Match award in Tests, very pleased. There was not much help for the pacers. I kept my plans simple and executed. When you pick wickets in conditions like this, you get loads of confidence. Rohit bhai asked me to believe in myself, not take any pressure and enjoy,” said Siraj.

The RCB pacer has played 21 Tests for India so far, picking 59 wickets at an average of 30.23. He has also grabbed two five-wicket hauls including the one in IND vs WI 2nd Test. However, he never managed to clinch the Player of the Match award in Tests before.

Meanwhile, India vs West Indies 2nd Test ended in a draw. The hosts railed at 76-2 till the stumps of Day 4. They needed 289 more runs to win on the final day with 8 wickets in hand.

Hence, India had an incredible opportunity to grab victory in the match. However, rains washed out the entire Day 5 proceedings and the man ended in a draw.

India did manage to win two match series 1-0. Earlier, India had won the 1st Test in Dominica by an innings and 141 runs. India and West Indies will now lock horns in a three-match ODI series.
