The senior West Indies National Cricket Team all-rounder Jason Holder did a small dance to celebrate the wicket of India National Cricket Team captain Hardik Pandya in the first T20I at the Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad on Thursday, August 03.

The Men In Blue skipper Hardik played a decent knock during the run-chase against West Indies but he failed to get his team past the finish line as he was dismissed in the 16th over.

On the first ball of the 16th over, Jason Holder bowled an off-cutter to Hardik. The Indian captain walked down the track, got beaten on the inside edge, and got castled. He walked back to the hut after scoring 19 runs. After picking the huge wicket in the crucial moment of the game, Holder brought out a small dance in celebration.

After the dismissal of Hardik Pandya, India kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were restricted to 145/9, losing the series opener by 4 runs.

Earlier, West Indies opener Brandon King started off aggressively but his partner Kyle Mayers was struggling to get going. Returning Yuzvendra Chahal made sure the openers doesn’t stitch together a big partnership and cleaned them up in his first over itself.

Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell batted brilliantly and they smashed the Indian bowlers all over the park. However, the bowlers made a terrific comeback and didn’t let any West Indies batter score a fifty. India restricted the hosts to 149/6 as Yuzvendra Chahal and Arshdeep Singh picked two wickets each while Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav got one wicket each.

Speaking after the match, Hardik Pandya said that they made some huge errors that cost them the first T20I. However, the skipper was hopeful of the young team learning from mistakes.

“We were right to chase. We made some errors which costed us the game. A young team will make mistakes. We will learn. Good four games ahead.
