Suryakumar Yadav, on Sunday (August 6), took a stunning catch to send back Brandon King for a duck in the ongoing second T20I between India and West Indies in Guyana.
India captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bat first. The visitors, however, made a poor start with the bat once again as the likes of Shubman Gill (7) and Suryakumar Yadav (1) failed to do well. Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma then steadied the ship with a 42-run stand before Romario Shepherd cleaned up the former with a stunning delivery.
Sanju Samson also failed to do well with the bat and was out for only 7 to leave India reeling at 76 for 4. Varma and Pandya then took the score past the 100-run mark before the former completed his maiden T20I fifty. Varma, however, did not last long after the fifty and was out for 51. India eventually finished their innings on 152 for 7.
Suryakumar Yadav’s stunning catch:
India needed a good start with the ball to get some much-needed momentum and they got it on the very first ball of the innings courtesy of Suryakumar Yadav’s stunning catch. Captain Pandya took the onus on him to open the bowling and gave India the early breakthrough on the very first ball.
He bowled a full delivery outside off and King went for a drive. The West Indies opener had made a good connection with the ball before Suryakumar Yadav pulled off a blinder to break his heart. While standing at short extra cover, the India star dived full length to his right and caught the ball just inches above the ground. Suryakumar Yadav was himself stunned by the effort as his reaction said it all.

Meanwhile, Pandya went on to dismiss the dangerous Johnson Charles in the first over too to put India well on top. He made Charles offer an easy catch to Tilak Varma at point for just 2. At the time of writing this report, West Indies were on 4 for 2 after 2 overs. The hosts are currently leading the five-match series after winning the first T20I by 4 runs.
