India National Cricket Team explosive batsman Suryakumar Yadav stunned the West Indies National Cricket Team pacer Jayden Seales with his trademark ‘supla shot’ during the first ODI of the three-match series at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados on Thursday, July 27, 2023.
The 32-year-old came to bat at the No.3 position for India and played his natural attacking game. He smashed some good boundaries and looked settled in the middle.

Although Suryakumar Yadav was unable to play big innings in the match, his short stay in the middle was impactful. He scored 19 runs off 25 balls, with 3 fours and 1 six, before being dismissed by Gudakesh Motie.
The only six of his innings came off Jayden Seales’ bowling on the second ball of the 8th over. The bowler delivered a length delivery outside off-stump and Suryakumar Yadav went across to play his favorite ‘supla shot’. The reaction of the 21-year-old pacer to Suryakumar’s shot was absolutely priceless.

Earlier, India won the toss and they opted to bowl first. The bowlers did an exceptional job in the match and bundled out the West Indies for 114. Indian pacers – Hardik Pandya, Mukesh Kumar, and Shardul Thakur – started off the damage by dismissing the top order. While the rest of the job was done by the spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav.
Kuldeep Yadav (4/6) and Ravindra Jadeja (3/37) became the first left-arm spin bowling pair to pick seven or more wickets in an ODI for India. At the time of writing the report, India were at 96/4 and were on the way to registering the victory in the first ODI.
