India vs West Indies 1st ODI might be a regular game for Indian team. However, it was a special match for Tilak Varma, who made his international debut. After his debut, his Mumbai Indians teammate Dewald Brevis shared a heartwarming message for him that melted his heart.
Tilak Varma arrived to bat at the no.4 position in IND vs WI 1st T20I. The right-handed batsman slammed 39 runs off 22 balls. With 3 sixes and 2 fours, he held a stunning strike rate of 177+. Varma was also the top run-getter for the Indian team in the match.

BCCI shared a video on Twitter in which Tilak Varma’s Mumbai Indians teammate Dewald Brewis shared a special video message for him. The South African batter congratulated Varma for his India debut.
“I hope you’re very excited. I don’t know if I’m more excited that you, but I just wanna say from my side and from the Brevis family congratulations on your debut. It’s such a great moment for you and your family. I can just imagine how your parents and everyone must be.
It’s great to see you out there living your dream out, and it gave me goosebumps those that second ball and third ball. Now you always have my support and all the best for the rest of their serious. I’m backing you free. And every guy for Team India,” Deals Brevis said.
Tilak Varma was moved by the message and thanked his MI teammate for his wishes.
“I really loved it. It was a wonderful surprise. I was thinking about that could be my coach or my family. But the other option was Dewald Brevis my brother. So it was really happy. And thank you so much. My brother always love you.

Meanwhile, Tilak Varma’s knock went in vain as India lost the 1st T20I to West Indies by 4 runs. Batting first, the home team piled up 149-6 with 41 by Nicholas Pooran and 48 by Rovman Powell. Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal hunted 2 wickets each.
Later, India lost openers Ishan Kishan (6) and Shubman Gill (3) cheaply. Suryakumar Yadav (21) and Tilak Varma (39) added some crucial runs on the board. However, India lost all their batters towards the end and remained short of 5 runs for victory. For West Indies, Obed McCoy, Jason Holder, and Romario Shepherd hunted 2 wickets each.
